Once upon a time I had a crummy job in higher education.  I created this blog in 2012 as an experiment to learn how WordPress worked because my technologically-challenged supervisor decreed that our department must have a blog.  It laid dormant for just over a year and in that time I found a new job, a new home, a new dog, and a new life.

So why return?  Well, a group of us have decided to spend this year finding our voice in what we’re calling “The 2014 Blog Adventure.”   The ground rules?

  • Post at least twice a month.
  • Write about what we love.
  • Read and comment on each other’s posts.
  • Be open to challenge.
  • And be your most authentic self.

I call my blog, “Stay Until You See Something…”  I move around a lot.  I spent five years in a long distance relationship and never had enough time in either city to really feel at home.  I find it difficult to just sit down and relax at the end of the night; I seem to be more comfortable emptying the dish washer or tinkering with some project.  And I get pretty antsy whenever I have to sit still.  One day while sitting on a balcony overlooking the dunes on the beach, I decided to fight my urge to get up and tinker and instead simply stay put until I saw something I wouldn’t have ordinarily seen.  I gazed out from my view.  Dunes, ocean, sand, more ocean, dunes, sunbathers, umbrellas, ocean… and then… a skunk.  A skunk!  In the dunes!  Right there a midst all the summer beach-goers.  I’ve repeated the practice dozens of each time and I always find something new.  A rabbit, a snake, an old gazebo that’s been overtaken by nature.

And so this blog is dedicated to my every day life, but with an intentional commitment to slow down just enough to see something I wouldn’t have ordinarily seen.  When I find it, I’ll share it with you.  Keep your eyes open!
